Erm so! I opened a thread up the other day asking for help with background characters, because I am a twit and decided to include many scenes with a lot of them. So, if anyone would be interested in designing a character for this comic, I would really appreciate it! The thread can be found [here] with more information, along with what I'll give in return 0w0.
Yo! I am excited to help design a background character, so hold on for a while while I draw :'3
Also as your critique buddy, I shall put a critique hat on.
I think the backgrounds are the best part on this page, and the expressions are very nice! But the problem is that day/night colors are basically the same. Without the day and night panel, I couldn't tell if it changes. You can solve this by adding darker shadows, using blu-ish tones, or even a blue overlay :'D
And thanks for the feedback too! I definitely agree about the colours. I do use overlays, but maybe I'm a bit cautious with it. Next time I do a night scene I'll use your advice and maybe try out more different layer types 0w0
I love that first panel. I really do. It feels like I'm looking down at part of the town from the top of a really tall hill and it looks great. Plus, misty moon~
The second panel... Well, the sunrise looks nice, but the boats are making me blink. Just kinda... where they are in relation to the horizon, I think? I don't know. Something's a little off though. But the SAILS, oh man, the sails are perfect and I love them to bits. :]
Seriously loving the pink in Nate's hair on this page. It looks great and really establishes the feel of dawn.
SPEAKING OF NATE. NATE. YOU ARE MY FAVORITE. I LOVE YOU AND YOUR DUMB EARRING AND BAGGY EYES. :D
Nate trying to talk himself into doing things sounds an awful lot like me trying to talk myself into doing things.
Clearly, I am Nate.
XD Jokes aside, Nate, you can totally do this. Trust me. I'm a reader. I know how stories work. You've got this.
Also, birdies~ Love the little chicks in particular. :]
Yay thanks! >w< Yeah, the boats are something I remember struggling with a lot, and it never really got any easier. I'm deinitely going to need to look up more references and practice perspective some more for next time I draw boats. And even... later scenes. Involving boats.
An aaaaaaa yay! All that just makes me so happy ;w; and the BIRDS. Thank you! I had fun with them, all of them are actually based on real gamebird hybrids for funs. Usually half chicken half pheasant or peacock 0w0

Sometimes you realize that years later :D
