His Dad was a pirate captain, right? That is what I recall but maybe I am wrong.
If yes then Nathan is either bluffing or perhaps he only had a vague idea who his Dad REALLY was, haha. Or it does not matter since uh, pirate captains could have easily had a few kids here and there...
And if I am wrong then ya, sorry!
It's been pretty ambiguous so far! All the things Finn said were random guesses based on the name. 'Davy Jones' is a name people in a lot of places use when they can no longer go by their old one, or if they have no other name to go by, and that does include a lot of criminals.
Still, Nate was only 6 years old when he last saw his dad, so there are certainly things he's wrong about.
Okay!
I do not know how comfortably a household with a widowed Mom and one kid could live from selling fish back in the day but the early pages showed they have a pretty good house. While his Dad could have been a rich merchant/trader, he also could have been a rich and successful pirate captain. Hm...
The house wasn't supposed to be too great, put that down to 'early installment weirdness.' ^_^'
I tend to draw rooms bigger than they're supposed to be. (The ship has this problem too.) If I drew it again, it'd probably look a bit different and more run down.
I think Nate needs to listen out for some old sailor's stories about mysterious people with fluffy coats, it might help him put some pieces together RE: his Dad.
