This is the last page of the interlude. The next will be a cover, but the chapter following will be the first one set on land since chapter 1! Wowwww it's been a long time.
There is also the question of WHO gets access to it. I doubt everybody. And it does seem like a good case for a possible war... Ironic.
I am guess almost limitless immortality means that you never die by age or illness or anything like that but you can still be killed directly?
Yup! That's exactly what it is, and what most forms of immortality are in this world. there's no 100% immortality. It'd be really OP heheh.
Though in the case of the spring and amulet combo, it does go even further than that, with decapitation or complete destruction being the only guaranteed deaths. It'd seem appealing to a lot of people, though the catch is it does nothing to increase how a person heals.
"it does nothing to increase how a person heals"
Huh. So if you get both your legs and arms blown off and then you are kicked around and stabbed a few times through your chest for fun, you survive no problem but you feel everything and wish you were dead. Not that your fate afterwards is any better unless you regenerate? Because then you are just ever living torso...
Or if you rot away you might be a living skeleton. Hm.
Is that it?
If such a person gets injured the injury will heal, and they can even heal amazingly well from stuff that'd straight up kill someone else because they have the benefit of unlimited time. Yeah, limbs would never grow back though. And pain is still felt.
Unlike liches, they technically are still alive, so they wouldn't rot away. Good guess though! I do have one (non Beyond) character who considers himself a kind of living lich. It's not the same thing, but their existences are very similar.
Cool! That is pretty balanced then but still you gain SOME advantage because the point is to gain some.
And under some circumstances your fate might be worse than death.
